In her Instagram post, Regina expressed her pride in watching Amir grow into “a handsome, intelligent, compassionate, and humble young man.”
She went on to pray for his protection and success, urging him to make the family proud.
The actress, who is a mother of two, also assured Amir that she had a special gift for him that would bring a smile to his face.
“Happy 18th birthday to my adorable big boy,” Regina wrote.
Watching you grow into a handsome, intelligent, compassionate, and humble young man gladdens my heart. I pray that God continues to protect and watch over you in Jesus’ name. Amir responded with appreciation, saying, “Thank you mummy Regina, I appreciate everything that you have done for me in my life up until today.”
However, despite the loving exchange, the post didn’t sit well among some of Regina’s followers.
Critics took issue with her claiming to have “watched” Amir grow, given that she is only 24 years old.
Some suggested that their age gap is too small for her to make such a statement, while others defended her right to express herself as a mother figure.
One user, Motherwell Collins, sarcastically commented, “You dey mumu yourself. You dey call small girl mummy. If nor be say she marry your dad. You fit toast her for road. God abeg Oo ”
Another user, Osibekee, defended Regina, stating, “How you all reason is baffling She is a mother and if she addresses him as Son is still very correct and if she say watching him grow So? She has been married for 5 years meaning he was 13 and now 18 isn’t the watching him grow enough?”
Ferugson Igwe wrote, “Watching him grow? 22 yrs and 18 yrs no be age grade?” and Triple Jayboy added, “You senior am with 3 years?”
Despite the backlash, some fans supported the actress and urged others to let her be. “Kai when una go allow Regina Daniels breathe ,” one fan, Doose, wrote.
