Popular Nigerian actress and entrepreneur, Uche Ogbodo, has publicly responded to fans of May Edochie, estranged wife of actor Yul Edochie, after facing online backlash from them.
The controversy arose after Ogbodo’s shop was recently burglarized.
When she shared the unfortunate incident on Instagram, a wave of May Edochie’s supporters flooded her page with comments suggesting the burglary was “karma” for her stance on Yul Edochie’s marriage to Judy Austin.
In her response, Ogbodo accused May Edochie of enabling the “toxic” behavior of her fans by not addressing or condemning their negative comments.
The actress took to her social media to express frustration over being vilified simply because she did not openly condemn Judy Austin for her role in the breakdown of Yul and May Edochie’s marriage.
“Toxic May Edochie fans! You people don’t own this social media!” Ogbodo wrote.
She emphasized that misfortune is a part of life and will eventually affect everyone, refuting claims that the burglary was a consequence of karma.
“Misfortune is life, and it’s rotational; it will surely swing. So wait for your own turn. Allow me enjoy mine,” she said.
She added that she had blocked May on Instagram after May’s fans continually harassed her for interacting with May’s posts.
“I blocked May because you lot wouldn’t let me like her pictures in peace. And she seems to enjoy the toxicity! So that pisses me off!” Ogbodo wrote, accusing May of turning a blind eye to her supporters’ online harassment.
Uche Ogbodo firmly asserted her independence, declaring that she won’t publicly condemn Yul or Judy to appease May’s fans.
Instead, she urged those who dislike her to simply unfollow her, emphasizing her right to express herself on her own platform.
“I will cry as much as I want! Tears my own, phone my own, platform my own! Allow me to cry. Am I begging you money? Just leave me the hell alone.”
