Gospel artiste Laolu Gbenjo has shared his perspective on the importance of musical diversity during an interview on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief.
He noted that different occasions require varied musical genres, citing love songs for weddings and celebratory praise for joyous events.
“We have to be sincere to ourselves; if everybody sings gospel, the world will be boring. That’s the truth. If anyone is getting married, you don’t expect me to sing gospel all through. There are love songs and celebration praise. It’s just a celebration,” Gbenjo stated.
Gbenjo also discussed how the COVID-19 lockdown led him to explore a new musical niche, Alujo Special.
During the lockdown, he began creating personalized songs for individuals based on their photos, a venture he undertook in his studio.
Reflecting on his career beginnings, Gbenjo credited his father, a pastor, for his entry into music.
“I started singing because my father was a pastor,” he revealed.
