Nollywood actress Wumi Toriola has subtly criticized some of her colleagues for dismissing her achievements.
On her Instagram page, Wumi shared that someone referred to her as a “YouTube star,” and she proudly embraced the label.
She pointed out that some of her peers have yet to make their mark on YouTube and remain focused on traditional box office success.
Wumi questioned whether these colleagues had established their reputations before they began rebranding themselves.
Advising them to stay focused on their own paths, she cautioned against seeking validation from Bollywood.
She also gave note of warning to her fans to be wary of comments that undermine people’s efforts.
“Someone called me a ‘YouTube star,’ and my stubborn self took it with so much pride. Some of you haven’t even conquered YouTube and are still floating in the box office world. Yorubas will say ‘ile o gba, ona o gba.’ Keep playing. Your colleagues knew you before you started rebranding. Just keep playing. Don’t run your race; keep looking for Bollywood fame. If you see fake pages under the comments, it’s them, sitting in a corner, rubbishing people’s efforts.”
