Nigerian singer Davido has fired back at critics amid his ongoing custody battle with Sophia Momodu over their daughter, Imade.
The controversy started after Davido, seeking joint custody, faced opposition from Momodu, who argues he lacks the ability to adequately care for their child. Jason Durelo
Addressing critics on social media, Davido clarified the difference between joint and sole custody, stating his desire for shared parental responsibility. “All I asked for was ‘joint custody’ but cus it’s davido yall wanna act like yall can’t read! SMH I’m off this … yall be blessed and I pray this never happens to you,” he expressed.
In another post, Davido reposted, “There are many illiterates on this app so let me explain. Joint custody – Both parents will have access to the child. Sole custody – Only a single parent will have access to the child. Davido asked for a joint custody so tell me what’s bad there. ”. Kanayo O Kanayo
Recall that his babymama, Sophia Momodu, countered Davido’s claims in a court filing on Friday at the Lagos State High Court in Sabo, Yaba.
Momodu alleged that the artiste is unfit to have custody due to his inconsistent presence and failure to meet financial obligations.
She accused Davido of using their daughter for media stunts and promotions, alleging that he neglected their daughter’s education by refusing to pay tuition fees, a claim countered by Davido’s father who stepped in to settle the school dues.
Momodu further detailed instances where she claims Davido prioritized sexual advances over fatherly responsibilities, leading her to refuse his late-night visits that she perceived as attempts to manipulate her.
