Nigerian fashion designer Toyin Lawani has shared her experience of living with a tracheostomy tube, describing it as a profound experience that has deepened her connection with God.
In a post on her Instagram page, Lawani opened up about the challenges and lessons she has encountered while relying on a tracheostomy tube, a medical apparatus surgically inserted into the windpipe to aid breathing.
Through her ordeal, Lawani emphasized the significance of self-care, self-love, and prioritizing one’s well-being.
“Living on a tracheostomy tube was not a joke, Which brought me closer to God & I learnt valuable lessons about resilience, hope, strength & power of true friendships.”
“But through it all, one thing remains clear, taking time to focus on my health & well-being, I am reminded of the importance of self-care, self-love, & the need to prioritise what truly matters in life”.
She revealed the need to cherish the simple joys of life, acknowledging the support she has received from her followers and loved ones.
Your support means the world to me & I am eternally grateful for each & every one of you.
“Losing my voice was a huge setback for me. Not breathing well daily, opened my eyes to a lot we also take for granted in life.’’
