Burna Boy, the Nigerian Afrobeat singer, has revealed that his grandmother is the inspiration behind his song ‘Thanks’.
The track is featured on his seventh studio album, “I Told Them”. Burna Boy explained in a social media post that he recorded the song because of his grandmother, who would always ask him to come home but then quickly asked him to leave when he did visit.
The singer has also announced that he will be spending the upcoming Christmas season with his grandmother.
He posted:
“My grandma used to be crying for me to come back home; now she’s on edge every time I come back home and is already asking when I’m leaving.
“This is why I made ‘Thanks’. I’m rolling with only her this December for peace to reign.”
