The Kano Police Command on Tuesday confirmed that Hantar Daba and some other thugs in the state have surrendered.
The Kano Police confirmed this in a statement where it also said it is committed to ending thuggery activities in the state.
It added that more of the identified thugs are already denouncing, and accepting to change for good.
“You recall that the top three viz: Hantar Daba of Kwanar Disu, Nasiru Abdullahi aka Chile Maidoki of Layin Polewire Kurna and Abba Burakita of Dorayi Karama Quarters, Kano are the influential youths who have been identified promoting thuggery (Fadan Yan Daba),” the police said.
The Kano Police Command had earlier placed a bounty of five hundred thousand naira (N500,000:00) on each person’s head after being hesitant to respond to the Force’s invitation within the time frame
The police said during the last hangout event held at Sani Abacha In-door Stadium, Kofar Mata on 17 October 2023 that ultimately changed their mindsets of which all of them with the last one, Daba now bringing himself in the company of his mother and topmost former rival now turned bosom friend, Burakita of Dorayi leading him to the Police Command.
The Kano Police added that Burakita and Chile Maidoki had since reported and surrendered themselves to the Command.
It further said that Burakita later brought his followers totaling forty (40) on 26 October, 2023.
“The good news is that, the last person; Hantar Daba yesterday, 27 November, 2023 who has been on the run finally surrendered himself to the Police Command,” the Police said.
According to the Police, Daba was led with joy and happiness by his mother and some family members requesting to be part of the amnesty program of the Kano State Government.
